A jute rug in undyed grey fibre, braided by hand.
Braided is the most distinctive of DAVSU's three silhouettes. Long plaited ropes of jute, sewn by hand in a tight spiral, best seen from above. The construction is most natural in rounds and ovals. Squares are possible. Rectangles are not.

Ash is undyed. Its grey tone develops naturally when raw jute is submerged in dark clay water over an extended period. Tone varies slightly between lots.
Vacuum without a beater bar. Spot clean with a dry cloth. Rotate seasonally to even wear.
